Safer play
Responsible gambling resources
Gambling carries risk. Licensed UK operators must offer safer-gambling tools; national charities and schemes provide free support. This page collects practical starting points for adults in Great Britain.
National support services
- GambleAware: information on risk, budgeting and where to find treatment.
- GamCare: confidential advice and counselling; National Gambling Helpline 0808 8020 133.
- GAMSTOP: free multi-operator online self-exclusion across UK-licensed sites.
- UK Gambling Commission: licensing standards and public register of operators.
Tools on operator sites
UKGC-licensed brands must make deposit limits, loss limits, session reminders, time-outs and self-exclusion available in account settings. Names and menus differ by operator; look for “Safer gambling” or “Responsible gambling” after login.
GAMSTOP blocks new accounts and marketing across participating operators for the period you choose (minimum six months). It does not replace operator-level limits for milder control. Retail gambling is covered by separate schemes such as SENSE for betting shops.
When to pause
Consider stopping or seeking help if gambling stops feeling optional, you chase losses, hide activity from others, or use money meant for essentials. Our responsible play guide lists warning signs and limit-setting steps in more detail.
